The youngest victim was 4; the oldest was 82. Six victims were female: four girls and two women. Most of the deaths, 53%, resulted from collisions, and 28% involved rollovers. About 35% of the accidents were attributed to operator fault and to operator fault combined with other causes such as speed and inexperience. Excessive speed was cited in 30% of the accidents and excessive alcohol was called a factor in 25%. Alcohol was a factor in 70% of accidents involving victims age 18 or older; 60% were legally drunk. 12 victims or 15% wore helmets.
