Welcome to Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach, located in central-east Florida between Orlando and Jacksonville, is an ocean front Metro area, surrounded by the cities of Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, South Daytona, Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, and Daytona Beach Shores. Furthur out, the entire area of Volusia County and Flagler County may be considered as the Greater Daytona Beach area.
Daytona Beach is a favorite vacation destination to enjoy NASCAR Racing, Bike Week, Spring Break, Black College Reunion, Summer vacation, Biketoberfest, and the Turkey Rod Run classic car show. There are numerous smaller events which draw crowds to the hotels in the city, such as Kart Week, the offshore powerboat race, and the striking fish tournament.
In addition to auto racing, other organized sports in the area include minor league baseball (the Daytona Cubs who play at Jackie Robinson ball park), women's professional football (the Daytona Barracudas) and local college teams (Embry Riddle University, Bethune Cookman College, University of Central Florida, Stetson University). Individuals may participate in personal sports activies such as golfing, tennis, and fishing.
The area is well known for its beach area, which has sparkling, fine grained white sand.
Walking or bathing on the beach is free year round.
In some areas, driving is permitted on the beach for a small entrance fee.
In the Winter months, it is too chilly for beach going, but Daytona Beach is still warmer than many places up North.
The area is visited my many so-called "snow-birds" who have Winter homes in Florida.
Late January through mid-April are busy months, as loads of tourists flock to Daytona Beach for special events, starting with the Rolex 24 Hour race, the Daytona 500, Bike Week (now actually two weeks), Spring Break, and Black College Reunion.
May through September bring families to Daytona Beach, who come to enjoy the beach and the ocean.
There are rental vendors all along the beach, where you can rent or buy surfboards, boogie boards, dune buggies, mopeds, golf carts and other forms of recreation.
One can find all sorts of interesting attractions, activities, restaurants, night clubs, lounges, and recreational activities around the Daytona Beach Resort area.
